Written by Phil LaMarche (author of the short story "In the Tradition of My Family"), the novel was first published in April 2007 and was nominated for a Quill Award in General Fiction. The Los Angeles Times Book Review wrote "Nothing less than a masterpiece... one of the most savagely beautiful, emotionally devastating and accurate readings of what it means to grow up."

Director Todd Davis was on a panel at the Boston Branch of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Conservatory called "On The Set." Joined by director Chris Sparling and AD David Chapman, the panel discussed the roles and operation of a movie set.

This festival is an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS®) sanctioned Festival. Winning films in Live Action and Animation categories are automatically qualified for nomination consideration by AMPAS in the short film categories. Todd Davis was named RUNNER-UP, MOST PROMISING NEW ENGLAND FILMMAKER at the Boston Underground Film Festival awards ceremony last night after screening In The Tradition of My Family earlier in the day to a great crowd at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, MA. Short story author Phil LaMarche was in attendance and participated in the Q&A after the screening.

In The Tradition of My Family was invited to compete in Cinequest's Viewer's Voice competition. This is an on-line competition, of which the winners are screened at Cinequest Film Festival in March. While flattering, allowing the film to be shown on-line will disqualify it from many other festivals, so we have declined the invitation.

17-DEC-2005:
In The Tradition of My Family was screened at a fund raiser for the Brattle Theatre/Boston Underground Film Festival. It was the final film of an hour-long program. About 50 people from the local filmmaking and film festival community were in attendance and the film received great compliments from many audience members.

4-DEC-2005:
In The Tradition of My Family was accepted into its first film festival! The Boston Underground Film Festival will take place March 22-26, 2006. Scheduling details will be at the Boston Underground Film Festival web site.

25-OCT-2005:
In The Tradition of My Family had its premiere screening for cast, crew, family and friends on Sunday October 23, 2005 (see photo on this page). The very well-attended event was a great success! The film has been scored and is now in the final stages of post-production.

1-SEP-2005:
Now titled In The Tradition of My Family, the film is in rough cut. Michael Berenbaum, A.C.E., recently completed his edit. Next is music scoring, titles and credits design, sound design and final sound mix when picture lock is achieved.
